45 × 88 × 35 inches

Installation: 2161 Queen St East, Toronto ON

This temporary project was commissioned for an exhibition of light-based works to be sited in the commercial district of the Beaches neighbourhood in Toronto.

Sugar Mountain suggests abundance, commerce and the social gatherings in which cakes play a ritual role. Bakery cases are a familiar sight; yet, while the glowing items in this displaced case appear at times to be highly realistic, at others they can seem abstract and even alien, depending on the shifting perceptions of those who encounter them.
