Installation: The Arts Center at Governors Island, New York City
Commissioned by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council

These lanterns were made May–August 2023 by over a hundred participants, including visitors to the Governors Island Art Center, Spring Hill Library in Brooklyn, and high school students from the island’s Harbor School.

They started as two-dimensional watercolors and drawings made by the participants, depicting items they have lost, given away, used up, or no longer have. The artists attempted to resurrect these objects in three-dimensional form using wire, beeswax, and the submitted drawings.
